Today's Devotion
I read a devotion from YouVersion.com and I just had to share what it says for today, Dec 21, 2011.
Colossians 3:10
"What does it mean to "put on your new nature"? It means that your conduct should match your faith. If you are a Christian, you should act like it. To be a Christian means more than just making good resolutions and having good intentions; it means taking the right actions. This is a straightforward step that is as simple as putting on your clothes."
We as Christians need to be reminded of this if not a daily basis at least a weekly basis. It is so easy to slip away from God and how he wants us to live. I pray that I show God through my life everyday.

Don't you know it hurts...
It's hard for me to understand when someone blatantly goes out of their way to hurt someone. I want to confront the person who is doing the hurting and ask them, 'What are you thinking???' But I don't.
I'm a person who does not like to raise conflict in ones family or circle of friends. This could be good and bad for a person. Good, that I'm not showing my ugly side that only my immediate family gets to see from time to time. Bad, that I keep it all bottled up inside that when another occasion arises, all it does is get heavier and heavier on my soul.
So all I do is pray and when I say pray, I don't mean consistently. I should, don't get me wrong, but when the occasion seems to drift away in the distance it gets forgot about. That is until something arises again.
Today I ask for prayer for my family, who is both the hurter and the hurting. That they find peace with themselves, so they don't feel like they have to attack one another.
For some encouragement for those caught in a similar situation, here is lyrics to a song sang by Press Play. It fits perfect!

Grace is God's voluntary and loving favor given to those he saves. We can't earn salvation, nor do we deserve it. No religious, intellectual, or moral effort can gain it, because it comes only from God's mercy and love. Without God's grace, no person can be saved. Never take for granted
"...and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs." Matthew 24:7b-8
We have had so many crazy things happen this year that it really gets you thinking about God and His plan.
In February, we had record breaking temperatures and snow accumulation. Through the months of May and June are our usual spills of tornadoes. This past summer we had record breaking temperatures exceeding 110+. And now within the past week we've been having earthquakes and the aftershocks. What's next??
I am so thankful to have a personal relationship with a Father that is always watching over and protecting those that seek Him. I could not imagine not knowing where I am going if there is no tomorrow. Yes I'm ready, but I also want the opportunity that most Americans want and that's to watch their kids grow up.
It is this promise that we as Christians are to stand on, "But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved." Matthew 24:13.

A Light in the Dark
I was looking at my phone's world clock when it hit me. There are so many places in the world that I will never get to see. I've always been in fear of going to new places. For instances, NYC scares me to no end. I would never want to go there by myself. It would have to be with a group. But I feel the Lord opening my heart to new adventures. We shouldn't be scared, for He is with us.

Well my baby is 2!!
It's crazy to think I no longer have a little baby in the house. We celebrated his birthday at the park across the street from our house with our close family members. He had such a good time, but had no time to open presents. He was just too busy playing on the play ground. His sister though was more than willing to open them for him. :)

I never saw it coming...
On Friday, August 19th I was praising and thanking my heavenly Father that I still had my babies with me.
My husband had been given the day off, but had school work to do so he sent Luke onto the sitters for a few hours to get that done. When getting to the sitters, she asked that Addam leave the car seat with her that she needed to run to Vinita, about 20 miles away, to purchase a gift for a wedding she was attending the next day.
Addam got done with his school work before she got back into town, so she dropped him off at our house at about 1:30 that afternoon. McKenzie had been at school all day and wouldn't get out until 3:10pm. When I got home at 5:30pm, we decided to drive out to visit with Addam's mom and stepdad in the Big Cabin/Adair area. We stayed out there until about 9:30pm before heading home. I had left my phone in the car and noticed that my brother in law had called me. When I called him back he asked if I had heard about our sitter, I told him no.
Come to find out, our sitter had been in a wreck at about 5:30pm that evening in Chelsea. Luckily we had a friend that came up behind her and was able to see what all took place. After pulling out on the highway from her house, she viered into the grassed center median and then corrected herself and went straight for a minute. She then again viered into the grassed center median again but when she corrected herself she keep going towards the ditch. Well instead of driving into the ditch, she drove into a concreted bridge rail, flipped her SUV back onto the highway and luckily not into the creek below.
When our friend got to the wreck he saw two little boys climbing out of a broken window. Thankfully they had their seat belts on and walked away unharmed. When our sitter got out, she couldn't stand up without falling over. When the paramedics got there, our friend told her that she needed to go get some help that she must have hit her head pretty hard. Well she tried to play it off that she was fine and that she'd be okay. Well after many times of telling her that she needed to go get help, she finally complied. The officer that interviewed her knew there was something wrong with her, he didn't need a blood test to know.
She was taken to the hospital to get checked out and get a blood test on her. They went ahead and arrested her for a DUI for drugs and she spent the night in jail. Of course the blood test came back and confirmed the usage of drugs. She should have got child endangerment added on, but the parents decided not to press charges. That I still don't understand. Nope those kids weren't hers, they were being watched by her.
I haven't seen or talked to her since that day. It has taken time to calm the anger that I have for this person. She watched McKenzie for over 4 years and has had Luke since he was 6 weeks old, to make it 2 years for him. I am thankful that God's plan worked out in my favor and that my kids were not involved in that wreck, because I know that McKenzie is old enough that that could stick with her for a long time, if not her entire lifetime. God's plan is so amazing and his time is so perfect!!! In the days to follow, we had great friends that watched Luke until we found a permanent sitter. The sitter we did find can normally take months to get in, but we got in immediately! We were scared at first knowing that the difference we were going to be paying could have been a brand new car payment, but you know what, we're making it just fine! AND, we love the daycare that Luke is at now. He just turned 2 and they read, they teach about colors, shapes, ABC's with the kids everyday! He paints, colors, interacts with other kids and gets fed top notch nutritional meals. Where he didn't get any of that at his other sitter's. I couldn't have asked for a better place!

1st Day of Kindergarten
Last year was so fun with McKenzie being in Pre K and now it's time for her to enter Kindergarten. It's so bitter sweet, but I'm excited to see the transition into one smart little girl. I found these neat signs for McKenzie to hold on the first day of each school year.

McKenzie's 5th Birthday!
My little girl just keeps growing up and way too fast. Today we had her birthday party at the Boys & Girls Club with many family and friends who attended to celebrate with us. Being that her birthday is in the hottest part of the summer, it always consists of WATER! The kids have a blast so we're happy to have the kiddie pool, slip n slide & water slide.
I want to thank everyone who came the short and long distances to make this a very special day!

ONE AMAZING NIGHT!!!
I had the priviledge of attending the NKOTBSB Concert in Tulsa last night!! My sister in law, Ashley has dreamt of this day since she was a little girl. I was excited when she asked me to tag along! She invited two girls that she has known since grade school, Haleigh and Jennifer, who are die hard fans just as much as Ashley. I on the other hand never listened to NKOTB and even when I tried to listen to it last week, I wasn't impressed. Now BSB on the other hand, I've listened to them since I was a little girl and LOVE them!
We started our day by meeting up to get our tickets at the BOK Center. We weren't assigned seats next to each other, since we did our purchases in 3 separate transactions. But we weren't going to let that ruin our experience! When then ate at Olive Garden...YUM, did some shopping and got ready at the mall in the Macy's bathroom. It had the perfect counter w/ mirror and two lounge chairs attached to the bathroom. Here is a picture of my sis, Ashley and I at the mall getting ready.
We went straight to our seats, so we would know where we needed to be at the time of the show. But something was not right! The BOK Center had curtains covering the sections that they did not have open, which is normally fine, but from my seat I could only see half the stage. I tried to not make a big deal about it, so Ashley and I walked around BOK for a little bit to pass by the time. When we got back to our seats an usher MADE OUR DAY!! She informed us that we could ask to be moved since the curtain was in the way of us seeing the concert. We went straight to the box office where others were requesting to be moved as well. Let me give you the view from our original seats.
It is really far away! In the picture you can even see where the curtain was totally in the way of the stage. So glad we asked to be moved, cause this was the view we got!
We were like little girls all over again! Here is a picture of the 4 of us.

Heaven's New Angel
Today I got the news that my close friends, whom I met through my previous job, lost their 15 month old baby girl Alexa Rae. She was in the driveway when her father accidentally ran her over. That's really all I know of the situation. The last time I saw them was at her 1st birthday party, 3 months ago. This family has been through so much. When I first met this family, I had taken a job where the mother, Gina was my boss. She is a wonderful Christian woman and her husband Daniel is a wonderful Christian man. They have such loving and compassionate hearts. Once I got married and was living away from my parents, they were always there to lend a helping hand. During our first year of marriage we moved twice and both times they just handed over the keys to their SUV, because my husband and I both had small cars at the time. Gina and I always found time to go to lunch during the week. We shared about our personal lives together. She was always there to listen to anything I had going on. We've even stayed in contact with each other after 5 years of me not working with her. We're always willing to find a Christian concert to meet up at.
Daniel and Gina had a problem getting pregnant for years, so they turned to adoption. Of course the wait is long and the price is high, but they were so determined on having a family. Finally the day came where they were going to get their lil girl. I was not able to really be around them with Alexa but two times. But I know with all the love that I saw in their hearts, I know that they were terrific parents. They had an awesome family and support system the whole way. I love this family so much. It just breaks, literally tears my heart into pieces. I don't understand and will never know the answers of God's timing. All I vision is beautiful little Alexa dancing on the streets of gold with our amazing Heavenly Father. Until the day we meet again, Heaven's New Angel.

I just need to be thankful...
I hope you had a great holiday weekend. Our weekend started off just like any other weekend. Addam had a lot of school work to get done before the holiday so that could be off of his plate. I had a lot of cleaning to do before the holiday so I could be stress free about how it looks when I had family and friends come visit. I love it when my house is clean! It's amazing how fast it can get cluttered and back to the way it was before. I've come to realize that only mom's who stay home are able to have a clean home and those mom's that work all day will have the messier house. It's hard for me to accept sometimes, but I must swallow and move at my own pace.
Saturday, Addam's mom, Cheryl came to watch the kids so that we could go do our running around stress free. It's so nice to get to go shopping and actually eat inside a restaurant without having to get on to and chase kids around everywhere. I had bought a Groupon for a teeth whitening, so I was able to get that done while we were out and about. If you've never heard of Groupon or just not been willing to try it, you should! It's a daily deal website that you just sign up to get their daily email of their daily deals from businesses in your area or some that are online only. I was able to get the teeth whitening for only $15 when it was originally $50, I was able to get a $10 off discount for referring friends and family and they make their first purchase on Groupon. :) Here is my link to Groupon, if you would like to check it out.
Sunday we struggled to get everyone dressed and ready for church, as usual. Got to church and McKenzie just had to sit with us in service and she did do a lot better than the first time. She just likes to ask a lot of questions. :) After church we had to make a quick run to WalMart for Addam's hoagie bread, so we made a quick run to the Murphy's USA to pick up my FREE bag of Skittles! Once we had the Skittles in hand, McK decided to play a little game where we would reach our hand into the back seat and she would use a straw to blow the Skittles into our hand. Oh what cheap entertainment. The rest of the day was spent relaxing, doing some chores and preparing for the next day.
Monday, 4th of July, I was woke up by my alarm that is typically for a day of the week that I would have to go to work. Well I forgot to move the alarm to Tuesday, so I was up at 6am. :) 'Oh well,' I thought, it gave me time to finish what didn't get done on Sunday since we were having company that evening. I was able to arrange a babysitter while Addam and I played in the softball tournament going on across the street from our house. So at 10:30 we headed to the park and played one game and lost. Then had to wait another 2 hours before we played again. Thankfully, Luke was able to catch a quick nap in between games and then I had to run him up to The Gibson's. We ended up winning the second game, so we were still in the tournament. I on the other hand was done for the day. I woke up that morning with my ankles and left knee bothering me, so playing softball wasn't helping it. So I decided to take a quick shower and go pick the kids up.
McK wasn't quite ready to come home and The Gibson's were going to go swim again real quick, so we traded McK for their lil girl Emmyn. She is such a doll! I was worried she wouldn't want to stay with me, since she never had before but she did awesome! It was Luke that wasn't having it. He whinned and cried the whole time. After they got done swimming, Addam finally came home from playing softball...we lost. That's okay because the tournament didn't end for another 3 hours! Way to long in way too hot weather! Gma Shore came shortly after, so we started to charcoal. We waited and waited, no one else showed up. I know this took awhile to get to my point...but it truly sucked that no one else made. At the last minute, 6 people bailed on us and we were expecting another 6 to show up, but didn't until much later. I think I'm burned out on trying to get family together and have a good time. It never seems to work out when you want it to the most. But I am thankful for my Gma coming. I know that when she says she'll be there, she'll be there. I just have such high expectations I guess. I just need to be thankful...

Yea for Holiday Weekends!
I am so excited that the 4th of July is here! It's my favorite time of year, at least where I live. The City of Chelsea has their BIG firework show at McSpadden Park, which just so happens to be across the street from my house. Do you see now why it's my favorite time of year?!?! I participate in the annual co-ed slowpitch softball tournament every year, across the street at McSpadden Park. Then we invite our friends and family in the Chelsea area to sit in our yard/driveway and enjoy the fireworks. If they come early enough we'll even feed them. :)
This year I'm crossing my fingers that we can get someone to watch the kids so that I can play in the softball tournament. It's the only time I ever have the chance to play, so I really look forward to it. If not, hopefully Addam and I can take turns playing. :) Gotta stay positive!

Exhaustion
I am so happy that I get to skip our bi-monthly trip to Homeland tonight! It is never a fun trip. Our kiddos just can't seem to grasp the concept of behaving while shopping. I offered to order our groceries from Reasor's and pick them up the next day, but Addam just doesn't want to do that. So when he offered to go shopping with our list and coupons, I was all for it. I will stay home with the baby and Addam is going to take McKenzie just so he doesn't have to go by himself. I hope she is willing to go, she's not much of a shopper unless it's specifically for her. I am sending up a prayer for him now. :)

It's my 6th Wedding Anniversary!!!
My husband, Addam and I are celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary. The years have sure gone by fast, especially with kiddos. We weren't your average dating couple. Addam and I actually met online, Hot or Not. I had added my picture and info only because of a past boyfriend who was serving in Iraq put his picture and info on there. Once me and him broke up, I continued to use the website. I remember going through the pictures of guys that were my age when I ran across his picture. I wish I could find the picture that he had posted, it was such a good picture!
Fast forward 4 months on April 3rd, 2005, I called Addam to ask him if I could stop by on my way home from seeing my Dad in Grove. He was out fishing with his Dad, Stepmom (ex-stepmom now) and his half brothers. He gave me directions to the pond they were at and after that we were pretty much inseparable.
I currently worked in Jenks at BancFirst, but would get off work and make the 1 hour drive to see him at least 3 or 4 times a week for about a month. On Sunday, May 8th, 2005 we took my Mom out for Mother's Day and this was also their first time to meet. We then came back to Chelsea and was watching a movie when Addam asked me to marry him. We were so happy and excited to share with our family and friends!
Addam was in college, so we were trying to plan a date where he was off of school and that our family could come and celebrate with us. We felt that Thanksgiving Break was a good time, so it was set for November 26, 2005. Well, that didn't last for long because we were in love and inpatient so the date changed to Wednesday, June 29, 2005. We were able to invite only 20 of our closest family, since we had to pay for the amount of people who came. Still to this day, I'm shocked that the family we did invite were all able to come to our wedding on a Wednesday at 2pm. Man we're loved! I would like to show a few pictures from that special day.

Needless to say, we have not had the perfect marriage, but by the grace of God, we've pulled through. I'm excited to see what God has in store for us!

I am so excited!
I cannot believe that I, Lindsey Edwards, has a blog! I've been thinking about it for a couple of months now and it really hit hard this week. I started thinking of names and didn' t know where to begin. So of course what does every other person do when their stumped...we go to Google! I found this website, Wordroid and just started with the word 'life'. I started looking through the list of words with the word 'life' in it and came across 'savy'. At that point I knew I found part of my blog title. I wanted a title that reflected my life and I think I came up with the perfect one!
